President Trump with Prime Minister Modi. |
The mid-20th Century saw the decrease of the British Imperialism in many African and Asian Countries. India was one of them, Got independence on 15th August 1947 although the then India was bifurcated into-Two Nations; India and Pakistan. The majority of the Indian population which consists of Hindus stayed in India. while the Muslim minority followed by the First Prime minister of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah moved to Pakistan. This Caused Tremendous havoc as the two religions with opposite ideologies, one Hindu which has around 33 million gods and deities and no specific or single god to praise and numerous branched of religious literature and the other Muslims which believed in Allah as their supreme god and Prophet Mohammed as their last Messenger.
While both religions have a vast difference between them, one is polytheistic while the latter is monotheistic. One praised the Cow as their deity while the latter ate her in their cuisine. This created the two populations to settle elsewhere for their benefit and security. Lord Mountbatten came with the Idea of Making the Colony independent, he had the same experience of it in Burma, so Churchill made him the Last Viceroy and thus the two Nations got their independence and First prime ministers too. Jawaharlal Nehru, an English Gentleman by his Education and a true Indian by his Nature became the Prime Minister of India, while Mohammed Ali Jinnah for the latter. They both established Electoral-Democracies in both the nations, with the help of the British though. The laws®ulations are still some of the British era's. The Sedition law, which can imprison anybody if he dissents against the State or make some extreme statements to rebel against the state.
It's been around 72 years of Democracy in India still, the roots of Democracy isn't gone deeper than it should. The era of emergency during Indira Gandhi's regime and the era of autocracy in the Narendra Modi's regime has shown that the roots still are above the Ground for the Democracy to sustain. Partisan Politics or Bhakti cannot help democracy sustain through the Nation. If there is no opposition to a leader, it leads to an Autocracy. Similarly, one party commitment of the Indian citizens has also caused Misguided governance in Indian politics.
Though with Indian Independence many nations have been given too, they couldn't even survive the air of democracy. Pakistan witnessed military coupe many times, the military and the Intelligence agency ISI mainly controls half of the politics. Same with many African Nations like Libya, Chile, Nambia, South Africa, etc. There the Powers were captured more on in the less time and the Citizens were the same as they were under British Imperialism. The main prospect of Autocracy in a democracy is absolute Nationalism or Chauverism. The leaders under the pretext of "Benefit for the Nation" guides and misguides the whole citizens.
The Communism Principles of Democracy also held an important place in the Road of Democracy in many countries, although in some Communism failed and there too Dictatorship made their way in many forms. The Soviet established failed and many countries too, China has been a great example of Successful Communism although with some flaws, but who doesn't have flaws even the moon has black spots too. The Communist Party in India has been the Biggest Participant in the Establishment of THE HOLY BOOK OF A DEMOCRACY, CONSTITUTION. The Indian Constitution has been known for the longest written and the establishment of the principles taken from the Constitution of many successful Democracies like the United States, France, Ireland, etc. As the land of the Indian Subcontinent has been known for the emergence of many Religions like Hindusim, Buddhism, Jainism. It was known for it's religious conflicts from The Mughals to The Hindu-Muslim riots. Thus there arose the Cause for writing Secularism in the Constitution. Although many Governments like the current is known for dodging the Word Secularism under the pretext of Religious Extremism.
Thus, although the Indian Democracy isn't matured enough as of the United States and other Counterparts there still arises the cause and need of special characters in governance, partisan, religious and the most important aspect and pillar of a democracy "dissent" which has been known to be oppressed many times. The idea of Federalism is also not much developed into the nation. The Governance Between the Centre and the State is sometimes dependent on the party governing the Central Government as they have an upper hand into the executive functions and also the TWO-PERSON Position of Chief minister and the Governor which gives more confusion to the Governance. As the Governor is appointed by the Central Government it behaves as an agent rather than a Spectator or a Messenger in the State. There arises conflict amongst the inter-party which directly arises to the Chair of The Leader. There have been instances where a withdrawal of support by a small regional party has made the Prime Minister resign.
The United States Of America, the Nation for the Advocacy of the Democracy got their Independence way back in 1776 although it was a Declaration of Independence the whole and sole independence was in around 1789 when George Washington took the Chair of the First President of the United States after a long war of Revolution. Unlike many nations, the United States has an armed revolt against the British and thus established the democracy the world still appreciates. Although the same was with India it was not fully armed revolt, as the British call Independence was nothing just a transfer of power.
The base of the United States was the indigenous Red Indians(the native tribes) which Christopus Columbus thought as Indian as he was on his way to Discover India but unfortunately Discovered the land of America. Later Amerigo Vespucci came, then Migrants from the Whole of Europe came. With them came their Slaves too. There became a tradition of Slavery in the United States until the Civil War,1861 and with the Legacy of Abraham Lincoln to abolish in the 13th amendment. The United States also is known as the lands of Immigrants, still accepts the highest number of immigrants sometimes due to political interference the numbers go up and down. While most of the immigrants migrate for jobs some are there for asylum due to the problems caused in most third world countries where democracy hasn't yet established or the powers still conferred to the soo called democratic leaders. The US citizens enjoy the most security even outside their nations, no other country tried to mess or cause any problems to the citizens stuck in their countries.
Democracy enjoys the true freedom with principles of liberty and freedom of speech without any laws like sedition, their 1st amendment to United States Constitution gives them immunity of speaking their dissent without any interference of the state. The Federal courts are the protector of each and every citizen and their congress with a 2-party system of Republicans and Democrats. This gives the Legislative process a non-partisan perspective as the Congress can decide which law to amend, which to pass irrespective of the Chief of the state. Unlike in India, where the Prime Minister and President hold a special position to the law-making procedure the United States has made Impeachment law which can even remove the Working President from their Chair with Congress Sitting. The supreme court has an unbiased position and can declare a law unconstitutional, while some democracies enjoy the poaching of Chief justice and can influence the judgment with post-retirement plans. The corruption of the politicians is less as compared to the other counterparts in other nations, but the lobbying of the Bills occurs with some full-time lobbyists which influence the legislature on a large scale.
As Democracy in the States has reached its mature stage, it always comes with a flaw. The Beauracracy and the execution have to go through a process that is somewhat long for some actions. Unlike autocracy where the leader can do without any opposition, democracy opposition is a major pillar without opposition the democracy dies. Some bills are passed in the Congress with bi-partisan votes, some remain unpassed due to the ideological difference between the Left-leaning Democrats and the Conservative Republicans. The majority whips which creates a structure for passing the votes and helps them pass with the majority enjoy much power. The transparency between the Intelligence agencies and the citizens has sometimes caused major blunders into the Security issues of the nation.
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) declassifies their reports and documents after a period of mostly 10 years which has caused problems to the governance, The other nations don't declassify the documents as they are scared of their National Security.
The professionals who enjoy the majority of freedom for work as the press of the United States, as other nations who jail their dissenters and some reporters who reported the corruption or the backchanneling or the rise of dissent towards their supreme leaders. Although these have caused problems too, somethings have to be hidden for the benefit of the security of their citizens. In India, the press too enjoys the freedom but the criminal-politician bond has created a wall between them and there were many instances of killing and threatening them.
The Separate elections of President and the congressmen have made the citizens choose their favorable candidates not just on the basis of ideology but on the basis of the work they did or they manifest. Thus the congress can do their job and the president there. The elections which occur in India as mostly based on an image of a leader occupying a supreme position while the candidate and their work are not kept in the upper hand much. Thus causes a rise in undeserving Members of Legislature and creates further problems. The media too has to be unbiased as it is the broader pillar in a democracy, unlike autocracy where the media is controlled by the state. The media plays a great role in awareness of the citizen and if the propagandas of a party or ideology is being played then the awareness will be converted into a biased state of policymaking. The breakage of the word "Politics" itself is policymaking, not a game or technique of making the opposite quite by using any type of misuse of power.
