Liberal Hinduism and Radical Hindutva.

Durga in Ramayan Pata, sign of Early-Feminism in Hinduism

The word Hinduism means a major religious and cultural tradition of South Asia, which developed from Vedic religion. and while word Hindutva is a newly-termed one meaning Hinduness, the state of being an objective principled ideology instead of believing in a large system as a whole, proposed by Savarkar in 1923.

The difference of the -ness and -tattva arose my types of feeling among all sections of the Hindu society. Ranging from the Top-Brass to the unskilled labor, all participated in some or other immoral religious propaganda without knowing the thing behind. The difference is the word "Hinduism and the word Hindutva".

The Vajpayee-era and the Modi's-regime saw a huge surge in the mobilization of the Hindu Sections of society into the Cave of Hindutva. It all started with Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his theory of Hindu-Nationalism which he wrote in Ratnagiri jail during his trial. He was notorious for his half-Revolutionary activities. He demanded Revolution but as soon as he was caught unlike other revolutionaries he would write petitions and demand his release without any further demands of his agenda. He wrote about several mercy petitions around four, one of which he described himself as "prodigal son" longing to return to the "parental doors of the government" and would help with the British rulers in bringing up their radical followers from abroad into the hands of British in exchange for his freedom from prison. How can a leader jeopardize his own followers in exchange of his own freedom? The revolutionary leader Bhagat Singh and Vinayak Savarkar are always compared as the One who died for the cause of revolution and Independent India while the other Wrote Mercy petitions to the British while joining hands with them.

The Hindutva of Savarkar was as misguided and Confusing as he himself. The theory stated to the Connection of Hindus and their love towards their mother-land as written in his book  It, later on, proved as a means of Patriotism and Chauvinism, not a spiritual or a religious on as Hinduism states.

"We Hindus are bound together not only by the tie of the love we bear to a common fatherland and by the common blood that courses through our veins and keeps our hearts throbbing and our affections warm, but also by the tie of the common homage we pay to our great civilization - our Hindu culture" Fifth Edition 1969 p91 (Internet Archive PDF p108)
Savarkar wrote the pamphlet while imprisoned for his alleged role in the assassination of William Hutt Curzon.

While some Activists and Political leaders say the both are same as a whole there is a huge distinction between the two opposite ideologies. One is most of a political which shows a movement towards the motherland and is stuck to just love into their own religion. Owning to Savarkar's Childhood activities like when he was 12 years old he made himself and his friends to pelt stones to their neighboring mosque, the activities in the future were bound to happen as the symptoms were seen from the childhood itself. The radicality in any of the religions or any movement gives rise to violence and the violence in itself gets the lives of the people around.

Hinduism is a far-more broader concept than the movement of Hindutva. Though the word Hindu was not written anywhere in the old-religious manuscripts like Vedas, Smritis, Upanishads and many more. The word Sanatan-Dharma instead was used for, which has a meaning of Never-ending and also which has no Boundaries to enter and to start The Eternal believes and the belief of Non-Permanent which also gave rise of Buddhism, and the theory of our body that the soul never dies and it's just the body which is dead. The ideas motivate the Believers to do good deeds in return for Heaven and another life form into the Earth. While the Hindutva has no form of Heaven-Hell just love towards the land which is just as materialistic as the other things nearby, which opposes the ideas of the Sanatan-Dharma or the Real Hinduism.

The Religion in itself is a religion, with about 33 million gods and goddess to worship it gives each god a religion to practice but the ideas of togetherness and the worthiness of each and every particle into the cause and way of different aspects gives rise to come under the roof of Hinduism or Sanatan-Dharma. Where Nastika(non-believers), as well as Astik(Believers), can be together without any source of Conflict amongst each other as we See in other monotheistic religions like Islam and Christianity. In which different Schools of the inter-religious fight amongst themselves like Shia-Sunni, Protestant-Catholic, etc for just the sake of proving their faith. There is no specific book for the study of Hinduism, if we need to study we will find it himself in all the aspects of life. The ideas of Karma are very well followed by the Western Civilisation which we term as the Most modern Civilisations, So refer the term modern as western itself.

The Hindutva living is more alike limited, No alcohol No meat sometimes no contact with the opposite sex the same-sex isn't defined yet to them. While Hinduism is liberal in terms of all the aspects of living life. The true Hinduism is of very accepting nature, while the Vaishnavas in the North who resist all the types of non-veg food sometimes not even garlic and onion. In other parts, Goats are sacrificed into the temples of Kali temples and many other deities have their ceremony. The reason many westerners are into Hinduism is the usage of many substances that are intoxicant in the written nature and has been prohibited in many religions. Alcohol for instance is used in some places like Kal Bhairava temple also in Rig Veda, Mandala IV, Hymn 18, the god Indra is said to have drunk three lakes of somras to fortify himself before slaying the dragon Vritra, who had imprisoned all the waters of the world. Mahabharat too has many instances of consuming Alcohol by incarnations of Vishnu.

The Brahmanical interpretation of the Hindu religious texts has caused many problems with the daily life scenes. As they, the teaching class was not allowed to do any of the aspects they made it clear to teach in its own sense. As almost unlike other religions where a single book justifies the whole religion it makes easy for it to preach, but the interpretation of a single book has also made differences and sections amongst a clear religion let alone the Hinduism which has no single book to define itself and though now all the texts are available in the written format we were not having a history of writing, we have a history of communicating with the next-generations through an oral-form and in the form of poetries and mythological stories. These make many Rationalists question the events of Hinduism as some things don't have logical reasoning behind them like Flying humans and fighting with the Monsters it seems like a grandma's night story, maybe it was a method of understanding the moral meaning behind them and not the rational belief with specific date and chronology of the events. It's just the belief that makes the religions and also almost each and everything of life. You even don't know which time you were born, it's just a written piece of paper known as a birth certificate which shows it written and which can be modified as per the needs illegally but its the belief that the parents are my parents and the birth certificate shows my timings, not of others.

Although both Hinduism and Hindutva cannot be explained into a blog, it was just a collection of many things and interpretations into one comparative study. The Book of Shashi Tharoor, Why I AM A HINDU? and the Books of Sadhguru gave the Ideas on True Hinduism into the limelight and the aspects of spirituality and Sanatan-dharma. The reason I've named the title as Liberal Hinduism because as the liberal meaning freedom to do without any oppressing characters just like the Hinduism as a vast is like an open world free to practice, live, move, do whatsoever you need to do without having any kind of religious fear of Gods angry on you and punishing you for your deeds. The idea of Karma that what u do comes again to you in some or another form gives the Worshippers the freedom to do whatever but towards the truth and righteous side of the living world. Hinduism has been always taught to worship in any of the forms be it a piece of wheat as 'aanadata' or a big marble deity.
While on the other world around Hindutva life is much complicated mainly patriarchal as it is mostly made a political presence rather than a Religious presence let alone the spiritual one. The hatred is caused by the other religions and a comparison is being made to their religions. The idea of Love everyone and the slogan of "vasudhaiva kutumbakam " in the Maha Upanishads meaning the whole world as a family is forgotten in the world of Hindutva. Although it's limited to a section of Upper-Caste Hindu Society and the Political ideology it is rising into itself due to the Presence of the political and social leaders of the Sangh-Parivar, which Savarkar was once part during his days.
